The size of your aquarium will determine how many fish can live in it. If you only want a couple of small fish, then a 2- to 5-gallon fish tank should suffice. However, if you want a community of fish, then you probably want a fish tank that accommodates at least 20 gallons. The larger the fish tank, the easier it is to maintain healthy water. It is usually recommended that beginners start with a 20-gallon fish tank to make aquarium and water maintenance as easy as possible.
